The department is staffed with a number of people who can help you navigate your way through the department and the major.
The Director of Undergraduate Studies is the faculty head of the Psychology Undergraduate Office. The Director supervises all operations of the undergraduate office, conducts undergraduate advising about coursework and career issues, and serves as the department liaison on undergraduate issues to other areas of the university, such as the Dean's Office, Admissions, the Transfer Office, and Academic Advising.
The Undergraduate Coordinator can help you with academic advising, general questions about the major, declaration of the major, automatic waitlist for classes, borrowing textbooks, using the Psychology Resource Room, and graduation clearance.
The Undergraduate Academic Advisor can help you declare a major, document progress in the major (by creating an academic progress sheet for you), evaluate existing transfer courses, evaluate whether courses taken at other schools while your are a Stony Brook student can count towards your Stony Brook degree, arrange for research opportunities in the Psychiatry Department and with Psychology faculty, provide internship information, help you determine how to prepare for graduate school, provide information on careers in psychology and related fields, provide information on course content and syllabi, and provide information on community service opportunities.
The Undergraduate Research Coordinator and Subject Pool Coordinator can help you with any matters involving Subject Pool Research Participation, such as setting up your on-line account for scheduling, receiving your credits, and the general rules and guidelines. She can also help students interested in doing research find semester-long supervised research positions in exchange for course credit.
